Arnold Coons, Sr., 85, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016.

A native of Hackleburg, Alabama, he was the son of the late Anderson and Oma Terrell Coons. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Barnes Coons.

Arnold was a longtime member of Darlington Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and a Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He was also a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Surviving is his daughter, Karen Coons Prince and her husband, Scott of Roanoke Rapids; his son, Arnold “Butch” Coons, Jr. and his wife, Pat of Roanoke Rapids; granddaughter, Samantha Meeks of Roanoke Rapids; grandson Grady Lee “Gray” Neal, III of Roanoke Rapids; two sisters, Peggy C. Haskins and her husband, Gene, and Inez C. Wheeler, both of Roanoke Rapids; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, including Lauren Doughtie and Alyson Barbrey.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be private in the Quankie Baptist Church Cemetery.
